Our summer staff

Most of the staff who work for Kingdom Education are just with us during the summer season – although a large number choose to come back every year. We take great care to ensure that all our staff bring with them a passion for education and the desire to make sure that our students have the best experience possible.

At each of our centres, we have a Centre Manager. The Centre Manager is in charge of the day-to-day running of the centre. Our Centre Managers come from many different backgrounds, but they are all chosen for their management skills and ability to lead both our staff and our students.

There is also the Director of Studies (DoS = ‘Doss’). As the name suggests, the DoS is in charge of the academic courses. This person may be a specialist in teaching English as a Foreign Language, or in one of the specialist subjects which we also offer.

Between them, the Centre Manager and the DoS run the accommodation which we provide, and oversee our students’ welfare at their centre.

We also employ a Welfare Officer, who is not based at any one centre, but who can be contacted at any time with any concerns about ’safeguarding’ – basically, student welfare.

Like the DoS, our teachers may have a background in language teaching or in the teaching of a specialist academic subject. Many of them are associated with the university at which the courses are held.

The other people employed on our programmes are our student mentors. These are young people who are currently studying, or who have recently been studying, at the universities where we run our programmes. Their role is to encourage our students to take an active part in activities and excursions; they also assist with general supervision. Since many of them will be working as teachers in the near future, we ask our student mentors to assist with the news reviews and the weekly tutorials.
